Willey House

Willey House rests at the top of Mission Hill, at the intersection of Mission and Sylvar Streets in Santa Cruz, facing Mission Plaza Park. It is the Terran residence of the mage Ajay, and Prince Mikkel of Silverwood (on the rare occasions he visits).

The house was constructed in the Stick Eastlake style and was built in 1887 for Henry Willey, first president of People’s Bank, and at one time was the convent house for the Sisters of Charity, who founded Holy Cross school. The house rests at a crossing point of ley lines, and is considered a place of power. The house sits in the same location as Alastair’s Manor house in Castria.

The house has 6 bedrooms and three bathrooms, and is 3,698 square feet (basement excluded). One of the six bedrooms currently serves as Ajay’s sanctum.

Key Rooms

  • Black Room – The Black Room is the largest bedroom, and is used by Prince Mikkel when in residence.
  • Cellar – The Cellar is a large, unfinished square chamber divided by heavy stone walls into three chambers. The main chamber contains the house utilities and laundry. The largest chamber is a workshop and used for basic storage, and there is a storeroom that is secured by an arcane lock that contains more valuable or dangerous items.
  • Gold Room – The Gold Room is large, but as an attic room has steeply pitched ceilings on the outer walls. It is used by Ajay when in residence.
  • Living Room – The living room is less formal than downstairs, with a large television and comfortable seating, and a table used for gaming. The walls are adorned with various trophies from their travels, including weapons taken from enemies.
  • Sanctum – The Sanctum is Ajay’s private spellcasting room, which is secured by arcane lock spells on all doors and windows. It has a large spellcasting circle on the floor, and the main windows overlook Mission Plaza Park. Any magical items of significance are stored here, and the primary mirror that Ajay uses to travel between the worlds is also kept here.
